Virtual Analytical Training Series

IADLEST in cooperation with TXDOT is offering FREE virtual analytical training series that focuses on the principles data driven policing

 

Crime and Crash Analysis with ArcGIS Pro

This 14-hour virtual workshop is part of the online analytical training series. The training is presented over 4 weeks in a multi-faceted learning platform that includes live and recorded training sessions, self-paced activities, and one-on-one live remote tutorial sessions throughout four-week period.

During the training analysts will learn the basics of spatial analysis and the application of ArcGIS Pro to map crime and crash datasets. Over the course of four weeks, analysts will learn how to navigate in ArcGIS Pro, create a base map, interpret coordinate systems, represent crimes or crashes as pins or dots, and create and interpret hot spot maps. Analysts who successfully complete this course will be able to produce basic maps to support SAFER, and similar place-based programs.

Microsoft EXCEL for Data Driven Strategies - BASIC

This 21-hour virtual workshop is part of the online analytical training series. The training is presented over five weeks in a multi-faceted learning platform that includes both live and recorded training sessions, self-paced activities, and one-on-one live remote tutorial sessions throughout the five weeks.

The training will focus on issues relating to regarding data quality, data analysis, reporting, and evaluation using Microsoft Excel®. It is designed for analysts to learn the key data and analytical skills needed to establish effective and efficient data-driven processes. The training provides detailed instruction and practical exercises regarding the process of organizing quality police data and performing quality analyses.

Microsoft EXCEL for Data Driven Strategies - INTERMEDIATE

This 14-hour virtual workshop is the next step in the training series and builds on the Basic-Excel Workshop. The workshop includes threshold analysis and critical thinking, application with complex formulas, and 3D mapping in Excel. The workshop is presented over three weeks in a multi-faceted learning platform that includes both live and recorded training sessions, self-paced activities, and one-on-one live remote tutorial sessions throughout the 3 weeks.

Creating Analytical Capacity:  Analysis in Action

This is a 14-hour virtual workshop is next in the continuing online analytical training series and focuses on the concepts of tactical analysis as a means to provide field personnel with actionable information to reduce crashes, crimes and other social harms. The training is presented over 4 weeks in a multi-faceted learning platform that includes live and recorded training sessions, self-paced activities, and one-on-one live remote tutorial sessions. This workshop will assist students with putting analytical knowledge and skills into action in support the agency in strategic and effective analysis-driven operations.
